CLINICAL FELLOW IN INTENSIVE CARE MEDICINE - ST3+ Level

Post commences 6th February 2018 for 6 months.

Applications are invited for appointment to Clinical Fellow posts (ST3+). The posts are based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton with short periods at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
The BSUH Critical Care Service manages 43 level 2-3 state of the art Intensive Care beds. It admits around 3000 patients at year, 40% medical and 60% surgical, including cardiac and Neurosurgical. The Cardiac unit is adjacent to the main ICU and is manned by the cardiac service team.
This is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to consolidate Intensive Care training (including Cardiac and Neurosurgical). There will be opportunities to practice all stages of ICM (Stage 1, 2 or 3) and advance skills, including echocardiography. The post holders would be placed in a full shift rota with responsibilities for managing critically ill patients accordingly to their experience.
The rota is compliant with the European Working Time Directive and the post is well supported by dedicated consultant in ICM at all times.
There is a full in house teaching programme covering the FICM syllabus, access to two e-learning modules and a well supported study leave to achieve the accomplishment of the FFICM and/or EDIC examinations. The post also provides an opportunity to participate in the ongoing audit and research projects or even to initiate a new one.
The post meet the requirements for ICM training as laid down by the FICM and candidates would be able to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). However, these posts do not attract an NTN. All candidates should be eligible for registration with the GMC. Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that the candidate provides written confirmation from the Royal Colleges.
