A unique opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 ward manager to lead the nursing team on Twineham Ward at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath. Twineham Ward is an orthopaedic unit which specialises in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients who have sustained a fractured neck of femur. It is also established to provide elective orthopaedic in-patient nursing care and rehabilitation. The diversity of the ward profile makes this a stimulating and engaging environment to work in.

The ward has a well-established multidisciplinary team which is central to ensuring that our patients are provided with every opportunity to reach their true potential. As ward manager you will be expected to support and lead this team.

We would like to appoint a progressive and determined individual who is committed to excellence in nursing to lead our skilled and professional team.

To be successful the applicant will require experience as a Band 6/7 nurse with proven skills in leadership and recent experience in orthopaedic/surgical nursing. You will be expected to promote and monitor a safe and caring environment for patients. It is also essential that you are able to provide professional direction to your team, advocating excellence in clinical practice at all times.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of the wards resources. They should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of good financial management, or provide evidence of previous experience. The candidate should also be familiar with managing data and its application to develop and improve patient care and experience.

Your professional development is important to us and we are committed to providing you with the right opportunities to develop and succeed. We can offer the following:

  • A full orientation and perceptorship package.
  • A personal assistant/administrator
  • Opportunities to access academic and professional courses.
  • Flexible full time working hours will be considered to support your work life balance.

We are situated near the main line to London and Brighton, with easy access to the South Downs National Park and the South Coast.
