BRIGHTON & SUSSEX UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST

Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton
Clinical Fellow in Renal Medicine (ST3+)
2 Posts for 6 months from February 2018

Applications are invited for the post of Renal Clinical Fellow Specialty Registrar Year 3+ , based at the Sussex Kidney Unit, Brighton and Sussex University Hospital
This post would suit someone finishing core training wanting to get some experience of nephrology before deciding which speciality to apply for or for someone wanting to increase their commitment to speciality ahead of ST3 applications. It is also suitable for someone interested in the CESR route towards renal certification. Brighton is a lively seaside city with plenty of restaurants, bars and nightlife as well as beautiful countryside and watersports opportunities to immerse yourself in. There is a high standard of living with lovely rental opportunities and good train links to London (50 minutes 3-4 trains per hours).
The Sussex Kidney Unit (SKU) is a friendly, well supported unit which provides tertiary renal services to the whole of Sussex. Patient-centred care is one of the driving values of the unit and this is delivered in a respectful multidisciplinary environment. You would be joining a team of 10 consultants, 6 registrars (who are a combination of NTN holding trainees and clinical fellows), 2 core trainees and 4 foundation year doctors. There is a 24 bedded renal ward plus a 7 chair day unit. The registrar level trainees rotate through blocks of ward lead, clinics (transplant, vasculitis, general nephrology and dialysis), in-reach AKI support to the other wards in the hospital, troubleshooting in out-patient haemodialysis/peritoneal dialysis departments and procedures registrar.
This post is open primarily to applicants who do not require a certificate of sponsorship to take up employment in the UK. Any applications from applicants who do require a certificate of sponsorship will be considered only if no suitable UK, EEA National or those with verifiable permission to work in the UK are identified for the post.
