We are looking for a self-motivated person to manage and organise the administration of our Homecare services in Pharmacy. The person we are looking for must have the ability to work under their own initiative, have a good eye for detail, be able to investigate and resolve queries, and be able to prioritise their workload to meet deadlines. You will join a small team of administrators across the trust who will work together to manage the workload.

The main duties will include: -

• Organising prescriptions for patients for various specialties.
• Checking invoices for accuracy, and processing data through the pharmacy computer system.
• Ensuring contract prices are agreed with homecare providers.
• Dealing with patient queries and complaints.
• Liaising with homecare providers and the speciality teams to ensure the correct medicines are supplied to patients in a timely manner.
• Working with the Homecare Services Manager to ensure the smooth transition of appropriate homecare patients to the new Outpatient pharmacy as demand requires and aid the setting up of any further homecare services for BSUH patients.

IT skills are a must; a large part of this role is data entry and retrieval. It would be an advantage if you are familiar with pharmacy computer systems and have an understanding of homecare services, but full training will be provided. You must be able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, patients and their relatives/carers.

The post is currently based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital but the post holder will be expected to work on all BSUH sites as require.

  • Posts in the Trust are subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal spent and unspent convictions, reprimands, and cautions.
  • Appointment to this role will commence at the lowest salary point unless confirmed otherwise by HR Employment Services (Recruitment, Administration & Terms and Conditions)
  • We may also use this advert to build our Bank staff. If you are unsuccessful at interview for a substantive role but meet the BSUH standards you may be offered a bank post.

The criteria and terms are set out below;

  • If you do not fulfil the essential qualification/skills listed on the job description and specification, you could be offered a Training Contract for 12-24 months, this is dependent on the vacancy and subject to terms and conditions.


  • The pay banding will be set at the band below the advertised post. For internal or current NHS employees you will remain on your current banding, this only applies for those currently on Bands 1-4.


  • On successful completion of your training and subject to sign off by your manager / mentor you will automatically transition to the substantive banding which the vacancy was originally advertised at.
