The department has a vacancy for an experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.

BSUH Histopathology receives approximately 33,000 requests per annum with all the technical work being performed at RSCH. The department provides a service for a wide variety of specialities, which include Renal Medicine, Oncology and Paediatrics as well as to the Brighton & Sussex Medical School.

The department is computerised, modern and well equipped.

Applicants must hold registration, have extensive practical laboratory experience with relevant practical skills and a good knowledge of histopathology.

The post involves rotation through different sections of the laboratory including Immunocytochemistry, Electron Microscopy, Special stains, Cut Up and Main Laboratory.

The successful candidates will be encouraged to participate in Continuing Professional Development and is expected to undertake the specialist portfolio qualification in histopathology.

A five-day week flexitime system is in operation, encompassing fixed ‘core hours’
However, you would be expected to participate in a Saturday morning rota for which time off in lieu is granted.

Frontier Pathology is a new contractual joint venture which began operating from 1st April 2015, founded on consolidation and integration of pathology services between Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust and Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

• Appointment to this role will commence at the lowest salary point unless confirmed otherwise by HR Employment Services (Recruitment, Administration & Terms and Conditions)
