Due to internal training opportunities, we now have an opening for a suitably qualified, motivated and experienced Senior Radiographer to extend their experience within our friendly CT scanning team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Successful candidates will have a minimum of 4 years recent NHS experience at a senior level supporting acute Imaging services. This position will provide an opportunity for a suitable candidate to gain operational, leadership and line management experience as well as supporting optimal resource usage to meet service requirements, including capacity management of the RSCH scanners. The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of CT imaging including Cardiac CT, Microwave Ablations and CT Colonography.

This is an exciting time to join our Trust. Over the next 3 years we have a £485 million investment to redevelop the Royal Sussex County Hospital site in Brighton and this will include a new state of the art Imaging Department.

The Trust provides treatment to over three quarters of a million patients each year working across two main sites the Royal Sussex County Hospital including the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The Department of Imaging provides services on all of these sites and in addition to this we provide a service at Hove Polyclinic. The department employs over 220 staff across all sites. The Trust’s specialised and tertiary services include neurosciences, arterial vascular surgery, neonatal, paediatrics, cardiac, cancer, renal, infectious diseases and HIV medicine. We are also the major trauma centre for Sussex and the South East of England.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals (BSUH) is an Acute Teaching Hospital and our Imaging department is proud to be accredited under the Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme (ISAS). As part of ISAS, you will have a key role in maintaining a high quality patient focused service. CPD, audit, research and radiographer role extension are actively encouraged and supported, and you will help to lead your team to complete objectives under this scheme.

With the support of the Lead Superintendent Radiographer for RACH & Acute Floor and other CT Superintendent Radiographers, you will help lead a team of radiographers supporting the CT scanning departments on the Royal Sussex County Hospital site in a busy acute setting and take responsibility for coordinating and prioritising the daily workload. You will lead for PGD, IV therapy and undertake other roles such as referral vetting, maintaining of CT protocols and organisation of equipment maintenance.

You will be responsible for delivery of a high-quality service that provides the best clinical imaging results. Excellent communication skills are required and you should enjoy working in a friendly, challenging and stimulating fast paced work environment.

The RSCH CT department is fitted with two Siemens Somatom Definition AS 64 slice CT scanners and one Siemens Somatom Definition Flash.
You will be required to provide a high level of patient care and expert knowledge to supervise and develop junior staff. You will work with other service leads assisting radiology managers to achieve local and national targets.
